Taping

Taping is a modern physiotherapy technique that uses special elastic tapes applied to the skin to relieve pain, stabilise muscles and joints, and enhance the body's natural compensatory mechanisms. This technique is widely used for sports and everyday injuries, stress-related conditions, and in rehabilitation programmes.

Indications for use:

  • Elimination or reduction of pain in muscles, joints, and ligaments after injuries, overexertion, or prolonged static stress;
  • Supporting muscles during training and sports competitions;
  • Improving blood circulation and microcirculation, reducing swelling and inflammation;
  • Accelerating recovery from sprains, bruises, and post-traumatic conditions;
  • Assisting with posture disorders and redistributing stress on the musculoskeletal system.

How it works:

The tapes are made of high-quality cotton material with elastic properties and a hypoallergenic adhesive layer. They contain no medicinal substances and are gentle on the skin, causing no irritation. When applied correctly, the tape supports muscles and joints, relieves pain and helps the body cope more effectively with stress and recovery.

Advantages of the method:

  • Painless and safe: a non-invasive technique without the use of medication;
  • Wide application: suitable for both athletes and people with everyday pain symptoms;
  • Convenience: tapes can be worn during normal activities, training or light physical activity;
  • Minimal risk of side effects: when used correctly, the risk of complications is extremely low.

When taping is particularly effective:

  • For muscle spasms and chronic pain;
  • In complex rehabilitation after injuries and operations;
  • For the prevention of injuries in sports and active physical activity;
  • For overload resulting from prolonged sedentary work or incorrect strain on the spine and joints.

The taping technique is widely used in modern physiotherapy and sports medicine and is based on principles developed by specialists at the Kinesio Taping Association International. At FORTEMED, taping is used as a standalone procedure or as part of a comprehensive recovery programme.

What taping gives the patient

  • Reduces pain without the use of medication;
  • Reduces swelling and congestion;
  • Improves joint mobility;
  • Promotes relaxation of overstrained muscles and activation of weakened ones;
  • Helps the body to ‘turn on’ its own recovery mechanisms.

Elastic tapes work 24/7: after the procedure, you can continue your usual activities — walking, working, doing light sports. The tapes are moisture-resistant and usually remain effective for 3–5 days.

How the procedure works

  1. A specialist assesses your condition, mobility, and area of discomfort.
  2. An individual tape application plan is selected.
  3. The tapes are applied taking into account the direction of the muscle fibres and the goals of the therapy.

The procedure takes 10–20 minutes on average and requires no special preparation.

Important to know

Taping is a safe technique, but it is not used in cases of severe skin damage, allergic reactions to the adhesive layer, and certain acute conditions. Before the procedure, a specialist will consult with you to determine the optimal approach.
