Gynaecologist

Who is a gynaecologist in a woman's life?

A gynaecologist is much more than a doctor responsible for a woman's reproductive health — they are a partner with whom a woman builds a trusting relationship to work together towards optimal health. A gynaecologist is a partner who understands women's health and is committed to providing the best care for each patient.

A gynaecologist is a trusted advisor who not only conducts regular medical examinations and helps prevent potential health problems, but also listens, considers, and responds to a woman's health concerns, needs, and goals.

In addition to physical health, a gynaecologist also helps address emotional and psychological issues that can affect a woman's reproductive health. They can provide the necessary support to women during the most important stages of their lives, including puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, thereby improving their overall quality of life.

When should you see a gynaecologist?

For preventive purposes, women are advised to visit a gynaecologist twice a year. It is important to ensure the reproductive system's health and normal functioning. Our gynaecologists can help identify and prevent problems before they develop into serious diseases.

Women should see a gynaecologist immediately if they experience the following symptoms:

  • Abdominal pain — aching or sharp;
  • Unusual vaginal discharge;
  • Menstrual cycle irregularities;
  • Rash in the genital area;
  • Itching, burning during urination;
  • Excessive fatigue or sudden changes in body weight;
  • Sudden sharp pain in the chest;
  • Unusual bleeding or non-healing wounds;
  • Pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse;
  • Unexplained loss of appetite or unexplained vomiting.

The FORTEMED clinic uses the state-of-the-art Mindray Resona I9 ultrasound machine, which is one of the most advanced in Latvia. This comprehensive approach ensures that every woman's health needs are fully met.

Our clinic employs experienced specialists and modern technology to provide you with the best treatment. Women's health is our priority, and we are ready to help you at every stage of your life!

A gynaecological ultrasound is a visual examination of the pelvic organs and female reproductive system using ultrasound.

With this examination, the doctor can determine the condition of the uterine cavity, uterine wall, uterine lining (endometrium), fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, cervix, and vagina, and diagnose congenital or acquired pathologies and changes, as well as benign and malignant tumours, to determine their location, size, development, and dynamics.

A gynaecological ultrasound examination allows for the diagnosis of diseases such as:

  • Uterine fibroids;
  • Cysts;
  • Inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs;
  • Ectopic pregnancy;
  • Cancer of the reproductive organs.

At the FORTEMED medical centre, experienced gynaecologists provide gynaecological care and ultrasound diagnostics to support patients' health. The FORTEMED team of doctors offers gynaecological ultrasound examinations using the new-generation Mindrey Resona I9 high-resolution device, enabling a wide range of expert-level examinations.

After the examination and receipt of the results, the doctor can diagnose and prescribe a treatment plan.

Important! Successful transabdominal ultrasound diagnostics requires a full bladder. It is recommended to drink 500-700 ml of fluid 2-3 hours before the examination. This examination is recommended once a year, even in the absence of complaints, for preventive purposes.
