Plasma therapy (PRP)

Plasma therapy (PRP RegenLab®) – injections of platelet-rich plasma

Plasma therapy (PRP RegenLab®), or injections of platelet-rich plasma, is becoming increasingly popular for treating various aesthetic problems and as a rejuvenating agent. PRP RegenLab® (Switzerland) is an abbreviation for Platelet Rich Plasma. PRP is used in a wide variety of cases, from aesthetic medicine to hair loss. The treatment uses the patient's own blood cells to achieve optimal results in the treated area of the face or body.

PRP RegenLab® is blood plasma that has been specially treated and enriched with platelets. Platelets are blood cell components involved in the clotting process and, along with other components, contain growth factors and cytokines that regulate tissue and cell healing and regeneration.

Possible applications of PRP RegenLab® at the FORTEMED medical centre:

  • Aesthetic dermatology and cosmetology. Plasma injections help eliminate signs of ageing and restore skin elasticity to the face and body. Skin tone and texture improve, pigmentation diminishes, and signs of ageing are reduced.
  • Trichology (hair growth problems). Normalises the hair growth process by stimulating new hair growth. After the procedure, new hair growth becomes stronger.

Platelet-rich plasma consists of two elements: plasma, the liquid part of blood, and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in the health of the entire body. Platelets are well known for their ability to clot blood, but they also contain growth factors that can stimulate cell proliferation and tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area. Platelet-rich plasma is blood that contains more platelets than usual.

To obtain platelet-rich plasma, a physician draws a small volume of blood from the patient's vein and places it in a centrifuge, which rapidly spins the sample to separate the platelets and concentrate them in the plasma.

After creating platelet-rich plasma from the patient's blood sample, this solution is injected into the target area, such as the scalp. The goal of the procedure is to increase the concentration of specific bioactive proteins or hormones, known as growth factors, in a defined area to accelerate regeneration.

Studies indicate that increased concentrations of growth factors in platelet-rich plasma can accelerate the healing process, restore skin elasticity, activate skin metabolism, reduce pain, and even stimulate hair growth.

RegenLab® PRP injections are administered directly into the skin:

  • Restoration of tissue water balance (active hydration);
  • Activation of skin metabolic processes;
  • Fibroblast cells begin to form, which form new collagen and elastin fibres;
  • Promotes the formation and maturation of stem cells;
  • Improves microcirculation in tissues.

The procedure is applied to the face, neck, décolleté, as well as the hands, abdomen, thighs and buttocks.

As a result of the procedure:

  • The skin's texture is smoothed out and wrinkles are filled in;
  • The appearance, colour and texture of the skin are improved;
  • Regeneration processes are activated;
  • Skin tone and turgor are normalised;
  • Scars are visually reduced;
  • Skin inflammation processes, including acne, are reduced;
  • Accelerates skin regeneration after surgery, trauma, laser peels, burns, and frostbite.

RegenLab® PRP injections are used because they are:

  • A well-proven and scientifically proven therapy;
  • A safe and fast-acting method;
  • Results are visible within a few days.

Risks and side effects of PRP therapy:

PRP injections are a low-risk procedure and typically do not cause serious adverse effects. As the procedure involves blood collection, you should ensure you have drunk enough water and eaten enough food to avoid fainting. After the procedure, you may experience soreness and bruising at the injection site.

Because PRP injections contain your own cells and plasma, the risk of an allergic reaction is much lower than with other injectable medications, such as corticosteroids.

RegenLab® PRP injections at the FORTEMED medical centre are performed only by dermatologists, who examine the patient's skin in detail and assess their health before the procedure to ensure the procedure is medically appropriate and does not cause harm.
